Race Day

When I was younger, I did not understand, why it was that I should aim for the sky
When clearly I was more suited to the land and looking up only made me want to sigh

The stairs to the stars upon which I stepped, seemed to be made of nothing but thin air
And if ever I got too high, for sometimes I leapt, down I would crash, much worse for wear

But when I stopped for a moment and observed, I was actually on the very top of a hillside
And so it was that I realised the use it serve, for without the will to fly, all that’s left is to slide
